  • Overview

    VariQ Corporation is looking for a skilled Application Developer II for a long-term engagement supporting the Legacy Systems of the USCG Aviation Logistics Center (ALC) in Elizabeth City, NC.

     

    Additional Information:

    • Salary: Dependent upon experience
    • Security Clearance: ability to attain a public trust required

    Responsibilities

    The Applications Developer researches, designs, develops, and/or modifies enterprise-wide systems and/or applications software.

    1. Participates in the design and coding of software products.
    2. Prepares comprehensive test plans and conducts tests.
    3. Analyzes test results and recommends moderately complex corrections to more experienced software engineers.
    4. Troubleshoots problems and provides customer support for application issues.
    5. Consults with project teams and end users to identify application requirements.
    6. Instructs, assigns, directs, and checks the work of other software developers on development team.
    7. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
    8. Participates in special projects as required, including providing support to EAL QA, creating implementation plans for the Configuration Management and System Engineering teams, and attending branch level meetings in addition to daily stand up meetings.

    Qualifications

    Required Skills:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
    • 5-8 years of related software development experience.
    • Programming languages: Advanced SQL, C#, C++

    Desired Skills:

    • Experience with relational databases, database programming, data structures, shell scripts, LINUX/UNIX, Perl and Postscript.
    • Experience working on an Agile SCRUM Development Team
    • Familiarity with the USCG ALMIS/ACMS/EAL systems and INGRES database application desired.
