VariQ has an exciting opportunity for a highly qualified Task Lead to provide IT support to a client in the following areas:

  • LAN/WAN support; System Administration; Database Administration; Help Desk; Wifi;
  • SharePoint Development and Administration, Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
  • Support; Audio/Visual; Teleconferencing; Application Development; Information Assurance; Type 1 Encryption Devices and Documentation. All of these various tasks must be accomplished at all security levels from unclassified through TS/SCI.

  • Location: Washington, DC Area, Occasional overnight travel may be required as well as travel from site to site.

The Task Lead will oversee and manage a group of 12-18 individuals.



  • Responsible for the operations and maintenance of these servers, storage, applications and networking devices by providing administration and engineering support.
  • Provide support for the design, implementation, administration, and expansion of all servers, network layer equipment and network storage devices associated with the client to include unclassified and classified systems.
  • Maintain and update documentation including system build documents, network drawings, data flow diagrams, hardware and software’s current system configuration and help desk request log descriptions/solutions.
  • Coordinate with the network engineer and Information Assurance Officer to verify the posture of the LAN and all connected equipment adhere to the configuration management and security requirements of the Federal Government and client.
  • Work on-site supporting the client during normal business hours but may have to work after hours either on-site or remotely.
  • Responsible for the design, implementation, operation, maintenance, administration, and expansion of all network devices associated with the client to include, but not limited to, routers, switches, firewalls and security devices (intrusion detection, intrusion prevention, access security, etc.).
  • Responsible for analyzing and assessing equipment and performance degradation, to include packet analysis, determination of hardware, software, networking, and/or other technical changes necessary to verify restoration of service and meet operational requirements.
  • Verify the posture of the LAN and all equipment on it adheres to the configuration management and security requirements of the Federal Government as stated in sources
  • Support research and feasibility studies, possible build out, usage and maintenance of a test environment for use in support the network.
  • Provide technical support for the client Help Desk located in Washington, DC and at alternate COOP facilities as well as other locations in the Washington, DC area.
  • Provide first and second level support to the customer on and offsite by answering, evaluating and prioritizing incoming telephone, voice mail and email requests for assistance from approximately 300 users experiencing problems with hardware, software, networking and other computer-related issues.
  • Maintain documentation on helpdesk procedures, problem resolution, prioritization and emergency procedures, as well as, maintain and update a helpdesk database.
  • Provide support to the client with the research and selection process, installation, maintenance, operation and troubleshooting of audio and video presentation equipment for several conference rooms.
  • Maintaining the operational status of VTC and A/V equipment.


  • Experience leading large teams within a Federal setting.
  • Previous experience working within the DOT, FAA, DHS, or federal law enforcement preferred.
  • Experience with National Security Emergency Preparedness (NSEP) requirements preferred

Education Requirements/Years of Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (Masters Preferred) in a related field. Additional years of experience can used in lieu of a degree
  • 7-10+ years’ experience.
