  • Overview

    VariQ is looking for a Database Administrator to support our client in Herndon, VAThis is a challenging position for an experienced Applications Developer with a front end/User Interface focus to work on a new, high-profile, large scale application with users in 50+ agencies across the Sponsor. This candidate will work with a team of Software Developers to specify, design, develop, test and deploy the final system. Development will take place in an iterative fashion using scrum techniques with inputs from multiple stakeholders. This position will use exceptional flexibility and technical skills. The work will be done in a dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders. The candidate will communicate with team leads and senior leadership and rapidly adjust direction in support of new and/or changing requirements.

    Responsibilities

    This effort will include a variety of activities, including:

    • Developing iterative screen mock ups and use of rapid prototyping to drive out requirements and design.
    • Participating in iterative software development teams with adherence to all reporting requirements.
    • Meeting with stakeholders, analyzing requirements, developing user stories and related artifacts, and translating these into software development tasks.
    • Working with Systems Engineers and Architects to specify, design, develop, test and deploy the final system.
    • Designing, developing and testing code for the demonstration capability.
    • Use of Test Driven Development (TDD) techniques for software development.
    • Development of technical documentation and briefing materials to support program status reviews, control gates, and other presentations as directed by program management.
    • Providing demonstrations and detailed walk through of system features to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Developing demonstration scenarios to highlight system features and support end user training.
    • Capturing feedback and prioritizing proposed changes to the user interface.
    • Developing system features and user interface in compliance with accessibility standards including Section 508.

    Qualifications

     

    Mandatory Skills

    1. Demonstrated experience (at least one year) developing UI applications using Angular JS.
    2. Demonstrated experience designing, building, testing, and deploying web browser-based User Interfaces (UIs) for secure, enterprise class systems using the following technologies; HTML/CSS, Java, JavaScript, AJAX, Apache Tomcat.
    3. Demonstrated experience with rapid prototyping, use of screen mock ups, etc. to refine requirements and design.
    4. Demonstrated experience participating in Agile software development teams using scrum techniques.

    Optional Skills

    1. Demonstrated experience developing and testing enterprise scale, web-based applications in the sponsor or sponsor's partners environment.
    2. Demonstrated experience developing enterprise applications hosted in a cloud environment.
    3. Demonstrated experience deploying applications on other Sponsor or partner networks.
    4. Demonstrated experience with development and deployment of applications that cross security domains.
    5. Demonstrated experience with sponsor or sponsor's partners policies, directives, and standards.
    6. Demonstrated experience exhibiting oral and written communication skills.
    7. Demonstrated experience testing system features and user interface in compliance with accessibility standards including Section 508.
