  • Overview

    VariQ is seeking a UI/UX Developer Lead for a long-term contract with a Federal client in McLean, VA.  The candidate will be part of a large DevOps team working on modernizing an enterprise-scale system with national security significance.  The Sr. UI/UX Developer will actively collaborate with government Product Owners, Enterprise Architects, external vendor teams, and internal VariQ team members to create high-performance, user-centric, cloud-native solutions based on stakeholder needs.

    • Location: McLean, VA
    • Salary: Dependent upon experience
    • Security Clearance: must be able to obtain a DHS/USCIS EOD Public Trust clearance
    • Available: within 30 days


    At a minimum, possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology Management or Engineering, or other comparable degree or experience.
    10+ yrs of experience building large client-facing web applications using user-centric design techniques.
    Experience with the U.S. Wed Design System ( is highly desired
    Expert knowledge UX and 508 Compliance.
    Experience with graphic design tools.
    Penchant for working in fast-paced, collaborative environments with a strong affinity for innovation.
    Strong Agile/Scrum fundamentals and experience
    Attention to detail and an eye for design and aesthetics.


    Tech Stack - Required:
    AWS, Adobe Creative Suite, Balsamiq (or equivalent), HTML 5, CSS, Angular, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, User Research


    Tech Stack - Desired:


    Minimum 4 or more years’ experience with:


    • Proficient in UI/UX concepts including GUI design, usability inspection and testing, information architecture, and user/task analysis
    • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with software developers, business analysts, and product owners; facilitating usability interviews and surveys
    • Experience developing style guides and design standards
    • Experience developing applications with responsive web design frameworks to support multiple platforms including compatibility with Chrome, Internet Explorer, Java, and iOS
    • Experience story boarding, defining business process flows, and developing effective designs based on fewest clicks and shortest-path
    • Understanding of Tufte’s information design principles


    Must have or be able to obtain security clearance.
