    VariQ has an exciting opportunity for a highly qualified Junior Desktop Support Tech to support the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC.

      

    Job Description: Perfect entry level job for a candidate who is eager to learn and support our team of senior desktop support technicians. This entire team is assigned to a select group of member offices and serves as their primary system administrator responsible for proactive IT maintenance and technical problem solving.

     

    Additional Information:

    • Location: Southwest Washington, D.C. (accessible from the Blue, Orange, and Silver Metro-Rail Stations). No option for remote work.
    • Salary: Dependent upon experience
    • Security Clearance: None
    • Available: within 30 days
    • Working Shift: The candidate will be working a standard shift, 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, between the hours of 8am – 5pm, specific work hours to be determined upon hire.

    Responsibilities

    Service to our US House customer includes, but is not limited to:

    • Imaging and deploying workstations for Members and their staff
    • Providing ongoing technical support to US House offices that are using a variety of systems and software, including Windows 10 and Windows 7 operating systems, as well as some MAC OS.  
    • Administering routine maintenance for computer systems that will improve performance, reliability, security and longevity.
    • Providing support for House offices in installing and using House supported software, including messaging client software, word processors, web browsers, anti-virus software, and proprietary House applications.
    • Ability to interact with Executive Level Customers and management in resolving technical problems on an emergency basis.
    • Providing consulting support to the assigned member offices about the newest technologies and how they best fit the office’s needs.
    • Conferring with senior engineering staff to resolve more complex problems.

    Qualifications

    Candidate Specific Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
      • Course work to cover computer maintenance, troubleshooting logic, computer internal component relations, basic programming, understanding and possibly hands-on experience imaging Windows machines
    • Flexibility to work 8 hour shift between the hours of 7am to 9pm, including some weekends.
    • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Outgoing personality, with a proactive customer service attitude.
    • Related IT certification preferred (CompTIA certs, Microsoft IT certs).

     

    Additional Desired Skills

    • 1 year minimum experience providing Tier I and Tier II end user support.
    • Experiencing using MDT for imaging workstations.
    • Experience with Office 365 Cloud migration.
    • Relevant Experiencing Supporting MAC OS users with Boot Camp or Parallels software.
    • Experience with Office 365 Cloud migration.
    • 1 year minimum supporting/troubleshooting experience supporting clients using remote access software.
