  • Overview

    VariQ is seeking a Technical Writer/XML Developer who will support the USCG Engineered System Support Services (ESSS) for Coast Guard Logistics Management System (CG-LIMS) technical information at the USCG Aviation Logistics Center (ALC) in Elizabeth City.

    This position will be responsible for technical documentation including but not limited to test plans, desk guides, online help tutorials and supporting documentation to communicate complex technical information more easily. Also for the development and sustainment of the USCG XML stylesheets used in the creation of technical publications that supports maintenance of Coast Guard assets. This position requires a highly motivated, self-starter with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.

    Responsibilities

    1. Researches, designs, develops, and/or modifies applications software.
    2. Prepares comprehensive test plans and conducts tests.
    3. Writes and updates technical documentation such as user manuals, system documentation, and training materials.
    4. Troubleshoots problems and provides customer support with application issues.
    5. Perform integration testing of other software developers applications on development team.
    6. Participates in special projects as required, creating promotion packages for the Configuration Management and System Engineering teams, and attends daily stand up meetings.
    7. Provide administrative support to Onsite Manager.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of tools.
    • Software development experience. Jira experience.
    • Familiarity with Oracle database applications, XML stylesheets, schemas, Adobe RoboHelp desired.
    • Agile Development experience with Scrum.
