    VariQ has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Cyber Security Architect to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Washington, DC.


    Additional Information:

    • Salary: dependent upon experience
    • Security Clearance: to obtain a Public Trust clearance
    • Location: Washington, DC
    • Available: upon award, currently in proposal stage


    Provides expertise developing security documentation and conducting independent security assessments of on premise and Cloud for Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) systems and applications. Support for coordinating and scheduling security-related assessments developing, reviewing and tracking Privacy Threshold Assessments (PTA), Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA), and System Disposal Assessments (SDA), and managing the agency’s Federal Information Security Act (FISMA)-reportable IT inventory in the DOT Cyber Security Assessment and Management (CSAM ) reporting system. Also provides technical subject matter expertise and advisory support on National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) security controls and requirements.


    Provide support including, but not limited to the following tasks:

    1. System Authorization process support services, including conducting independent assessments.
    2. Assisting in the development of required security documentation, and the preparation, review, and briefing of completed authorization packages for signature for identified FAA FISMA reportable systems as requested.
    3. Follow the client System Authorization process as defined in associated templates.
    4. Support the process within each of these three System Authorization states: Initial Authorization, Reauthorization, or Continuous Monitoring Assessment (CMA), also known as ongoing authorization.
    5. Apply Cybersecurity Assessment Management (CSAM) for system assessments, documentation development, and implement the CSAM Common Control offering and inheritance structure.
    6. Maintain draft and final System Authorization documentation.


    Applicants must have this experience and certifications to qualify:

    • At least 15 relevant years of experience.
    • Possess extensive working knowledge and experience utilizing Cybersecurity Assessment Management (CSAM) for system assessments, documentation development, and implementing the CSAM Common Control offering and inheritance structure.
    • Successful completion of a four (4) year degree from an accredited college or university in Business/Engineering or similar program.
    • Must be able to pass a background check to obtain a Public Trust level of clearance.
