Overview

We are seeking a talented O&M DevOps Engineer to support our project that enables US leadership to stay informed on world-wide events. International and publicly available TV and Radio station signals are streamed and viewable through a proprietary application, designed like a modern system resembling Netflix or YouTube. Users can select channels, rewind back several weeks, select segments of programs for clipping, and auto-record programs at specific times and dates like that of a DVR. The O&M DevOps Engineer will help to maintain and optimize this service.

  • Location: On-site with the client in Reston, VA.
  • Salary: Dependent upon experience
  • Security Clearance: TS with full-scope poly required
  • Available: ASAP

Responsibilities

  • O&M and DevOps for an audio-video application
  • Analyzes client requirements and designs solutions using security and software best practices
  • Performs and automates tests for smooth deployment of software to various environments
  • Resolves problems with software and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements
  • Responding to tickets and issues and monitoring status to successful resolution
  • Providing tier 1 support for issues and service requests through hands-on troubleshooting in the application and/or AWS console
  • Coordinating handoff to tier 2 support by contacting appropriate teams or agency personnel

Qualifications

  • Experience with Linux and AWS environments (including serverless)
  • System Administration and DevOps
  • Experience with deployments in AWS environments
  • Experience with IaaS; implementing scalable cloud-based environments and systems; service-oriented architectures and microservices; deploying resilient, scalable, high-throughput systems that process large amounts of data
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and infrastructure testing strategies
  • Work closely with Product Owners, Developers, and external development teams to build and configure a high performing, scalable, cloud based infrastructure
  • Create scripts and/or templates to automate and/or bootstrap infrastructure provisioning and management tasks
  • Build and configure delivery environments supporting CD/CI tools using an Agile delivery methodology
  • Experience with Cloud Formation, Terraform, Jenkins, CLI, API Gateway Lambda, Cloudfront, DynamoDB, ElasticSearch, Packer, Ansible

Education Requirements/Years of Experience

  • Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, or related
  • 6+ years of experience working on related IT/development projects
  • Demonstrated experience with secure development, coding, engineering practices
  • Experience deploying and monitoring web applications in AWS 
  • Experience with IaaS; implementing scalable cloud-based environments and systems; service-oriented architectures and microservices; deploying resilient, scalable, high-throughput systems that process large amounts of data
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and infrastructure testing strategies
  • Experience with fully automating CI/CD pipelines end-to-end, from code commits to production
  • Experience with systems reliability, load balancing, monitoring, logging
  • Security first mindset
  • Have effective verbal and non-verbal communication with peers and clients
  • Ability to work in an open team environment

Desired Certifications

  • AWS SysOps Administrator, AWS DevOps Engineer, and/or AWS Developer or similar
