Overview

VariQ, a leader in innovative IT solutions and professional services for federal clients, is seeking motivated IT professionals like you who are eager to contribute to our critical Homeland Security missions. For the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Student Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), VariQ anticipates performing software development and application enhancements on this O&M contract using Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and DevSecOps processes. VariQ is excited to offer you a unique opportunity to join a SAFe Agile release planning team implementing CI/CD pipeline to support one our nation’s most critical homeland missions – the storage and processing of student and exchange visitor information for national security, law enforcement, immigration and border management, intelligence, background investigations, and associated testing, training, management reporting, planning and analysis.

 

VariQ is seeking a highly motivated Applications Developer I to join our growing team to develop, support, and modernize mission-critical applications for our DHS customer.  

 

Additional Information:

  • Security Clearance: Ability to attain a DHS EOD clearance required

  • Salary: dependent upon experience

Qualifications

Responsibilities / Qualifications:

  • Collaborating within Agile Scrum teams as a key contributor responsible for the design, test and implementation of AWS software capabilities
  • Experience designing and developing solutions with Java Platform Enterprise Edition (J2EE) in an Agile Software Development environment
  • Technical proficiency with developing database queries, batch jobs, and stored procedures with PL/SQL and NoSQL
  • Experience with DevOps pipeline tools including configuration management, requirements (e.g. JIRA), automated testing, and deployment
  • Experience developing applications with responsive web design frameworks to support multiple platforms including compatibility with Chrome, Internet Explorer, Java, and iOS
  • Experience with W3C web design standards and technologies, including CSS, HTML 5, JavaScript
  • Experience developing solutions using Message Services, including management of Apache ActiveMQ
  • Experience with developing and managing data models with tools such as Erwin
  • Experience designing and developing Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) with Representation State Transfer (REST), Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), and JavaScript Object Notation (JSON)

 

Desired Skills:

  • Experience and/or familiarity with DevOps, DevSecOps, and Continuous Development / Continuous Integration concepts, and automated test tools such as Docker, Jenkins, Rational Team Concert, JIRA, Git, Chef, Ansible, Puppet, Junit, JMeter, RSpec, and/or Cucumber
  • Experience and/or familiarity with one of more of the following program languages: Perl, Ruby, Python, JavaScript
  • Experience and/or familiarity with one of more of the following database technologies: SQL, Oracle, MySQL, JBDC, NOSQL
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) knowledge and experience.

 

 

Education Requirements/Years of Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline is required.
  • 1+ years of related design and development experience
  • 1+ years of experience as a member of an Agile Scrum development team, SAFe Agile experience preferred
